Palliative care at BWH specializes in medical care that focuses on providing patients relief from pain and other symptoms of a serious illness, no matter the diagnosis or stage of disease. The Palliative Care team aims to improve the quality of life for both patients and their families. Bluewater Health has a dedicated Palliative Care unit staffed by team of palliative care nurses and physicians. Patients are admitted to the unit to help with their symptoms or for end-of-life care. The hospital also has a palliative care liaison nurse who is available in both Sarnia and Petrolia to act as a resource for nursing staff and to help patients and their families navigate the system. |
