Program: Recreation Therapy

Description of Services: Utilizes a wide range of activities for patients that provide a sense of success and stimulation while in hospital.

Uses up to date technology to provide interactive interventions to promote an active social recreation lifestyle in hospital as well as in community.

After assessing a patient's leisure interests, leisure skills and daily activities level/routine, the therapist will then create a care plan for sessions that are geared around physical, cognitive, spiritual, social and emotional based leisure interventions that meet the patient needs. 

Will focus on patients with high behavioural needs, social isolation/depression and severe cognitive impairments.  This can include 1-1 based interventions or group activities.

Provides patients/families with community leisure resources upon discharge to promote an active leisure lifestyle upon discharge.

Fees: No fee
Application: All referrals are requested by the Recreation Therapist for all in-patient Continuing Care patients.
